Setup help
You need an OBD2 adapter plugged into your car. Most cars built since 2001 (petrol) and 2004 (diesel) have the socket, usually under the dashboard near the driver's knees.
Bluetooth adapter (e.g. Vgate iCar Pro)
- Plug the adapter into the car's OBD2 socket and switch the ignition on.
- On your phone, open Settings → Bluetooth and pair with the adapter first (names such as "Android-Vlink" or "OBDII"). If asked for a PIN, try 1234 or 0000.
- Open Naecom CarScan, tap Connect and choose your adapter. Allow the "Nearby devices" permission when asked.
USB adapter (e.g. OBDLink EX)
- Plug the adapter into the car, then connect it to your phone with a USB OTG cable or adapter.
- Accept the USB permission prompt on your phone, then tap Connect in the app.
No adapter yet?
Turn on Demo Mode in Settings to try the app with sample data.
What it can and can't read
- It reads the standard engine (powertrain) data that every OBD2 car supports — not ABS, airbag, gearbox-specific or other manufacturer-only systems.
- Some values (for example fuel level) are not provided by every car.
- Some cars do not share their VIN over OBD2; you can always enter your car's details by hand.
- Fault code descriptions and inspection notes are guides only — always have a qualified mechanic confirm a diagnosis.
